About Mrs. Dos Santos
Hello families! I am so thankful to be your child's 5th grade teacher this year! Here's a little bit about me.
I am from South Africa and came to North Carolina in August of 2019. I am an international teacher, part of an exchange program and it has been a great learning experience. I have one older brother and we are very close. My parents and my brother still live in South Africa. My husband, two children and I moved to the USA and we have enjoyed traveling and exploring this beautiful country. My daughter, Chelsea, will be in 6th grade this year and my son will be in 4th grade. We have a fur-baby and her name is Nikki. My family is the most precious and important thing to me.
I enjoy reading (my favorite genre is psychological thriller) with a cup of coffee, exercising (specifically crossfit) and traveling with my family. Road trips are fun! My favorite drink is a cup of Starbucks coffee and my favorite city is New York City.
I received my B.Soc.Sci degree in Psychology from the University of Pretoria and completed my PGCE in Education from the University of South Africa. I taught 5th and 6th grade in South Africa for 4 years and I have taught 3rd grade for WCPSS for 2 years. This is my 1st year at Carpenter Elementary and I am very excited to be a part of our incredible 5th grade team!
I have the expectation that everyone will be treated with kindness and respect and that our classroom is a safe place for students to ask questions and be themselves. I have very high behavior and academic expectations as well for my students and believe that we can have fun as long as we continue to get our work completed. I truly believe that every child has the ability to learn and that everyone of them are special and unique.
I am looking forward to a challenging, yet fun, year with your child!
